Procedure 

All Exceptional Performance Awards must be approved by the CLAS selection committee.  Exceptional Performance Awards are initiated by completing the CLAS Exceptional Performance Award Nomination Form. 

The submission deadlines are as follows:

  • Submission deadline 1st Quarter: August 1. Committee will review second week of August, with a September 1 payout if approved.
  • Submission deadline 2nd Quarter: November 1. Committee will review second week of November, with an December 1 payout if approved.
  • Submission deadline 3rd Quarter: February 1. Committee will review second week of February, with a March 1 payout if approved.
  • Submission deadline 4th Quarter: May 1. Committee will review second week of May, with a June 1 payout if approved.

SPOT awards transaction requests can be submitted at any time and will be evaluated monthly.  Transaction requests should be submitted by the 20th of the month, and awards will be disbursed on the 1st of the following month. 

Award Purpose Clarification

Exceptional performance awards are intended to recognize extraordinary contributions or significant additional duties beyond an employee’s regular job expectations. These awards are not to be used as a mechanism to address salary concerns or compensation equity issues.

Frequently Asked Questions  

Q: What funding sources can be used for these awards?

A: SPOT awards can be paid on 050 accounts.  Exceptional Performance Awards typically need to be paid on 240 or 520 accounts. An exception can be made for research release 050 accounts, which may be used for Exceptional Performance Awards.
